The Kiambu County Public Service Board wishes to recruit competent and qualified Kenyans to fill the following positions.

Water, Environment and Natural Resources
 
1. Director – Environmental Management 

(1 Post)

The Director will be responsible for identifying applicable environmental regulations and risks while interacting with Operations, Planning, Legal, Engineering and EHS Corporate and to implement acceptable systems ensuring compliance and conformity to EHS Policies and Management Systems.
 
Duties and responsibilities:-
  • Coordinating all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation and renewable energy within the County;
  • Implementation of environmental policies and practices;
  • Managing environmental processes within the County operations to ensure proper waste management and minimization systems in accordance with County Government Waste Management Policy and Public Health Act;
  • Managing environmental transmission processes within the County to ensure permitted facilities under the Clean Air Act operate in compliance with the regulatory requirements;
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation;
  • Establishing monitoring and evaluation systems for the departmental goals;
  • Facilitation of program objectives attainment and providing leadership to the staff;
Requirements for appointment
  • Have a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies/Public Health or related field.
  • Have twelve years of environmental experience with strong knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety regulations.
  • Have five years managerial experience in Public Health/Solid Waste Management.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and make professional presentations before various audience.
  • Be able to drive results, change, business understanding and teamwork, thorough understanding of risk management, as relates to environmental and loss control methodology.
  • Be able to lead and manage staff working in the department.
  • Be computer literate.
  • Must satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
2. Director – Water and Sanitation 
(1 Post)
The Director will be responsible for the enforcement of all rules, regulations and policies relating to construction, operation, maintenance, protection and use of public water supply and waste water infrastructure in the County.
 
Duties and responsibilities:-
  • Water and sanitation infrastructure development, program implementation and coordination within the County.
  • Ensuring that all designs, reports and drawings are produced and signed at relevant levels.
  • Liaising with other institutions on the implementation of projects and programs related to water and sanitation within the County.
  • Preparation of performance reporting drafts for Water Service Providers and staff working in the Department.
Requirements for Appointment
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in Technology/Bsc.Civil Engineering/Bsc.Water and Environmental Engineering or Higher Diploma in Water Engineering with 10 years experience in water and sanitation or other related fields.
  • Have at least 7 years experience in managing and implementing Water and Sanitation programs.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be literate in computer and have the relevant design skills.
  • Must satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
